Supermarkets cost us, growers, and the environment. Our family have begun to buy organic, sustainably grown foods direct from growers. We’re shampoo-free (yep! we’re crazy no-poo folk!), and we are constantly re-learning what we do and don’t need to consume, to live on this beautiful planet. We’re rookie hippies, learning to live more simply and sustainably. We’re also rookie homesteaders, learning to make our own everything (well, almost). 7 fruit trees grow on our small suburban plot, and counting. We’re planting a forest of organic veggies and fruit to go with our trees. Soon, we hope to carry a basket along aisles of shade in our garden, instead of along supermarket aisles. Sorry supermarkets, it’s not that we don’t appreciate you. It’s that we love the earth more, and we believe reform is needed.
